Volkswagen compact city EV revealed- the VW ID.Life Concept
The ID.Life will be the smallest EV in VW’s line-up
Volkswagen has revealed its ID.Life Concept, a small electric city car that aims to make electric cars more accessible. The production version of the concept will arrive in 2025. Once launched, the ID.Life will carry an affordable price tag and will be positioned below the ID.3 crossover in Volkswagen’s electric line-up.
ID.Life Powertrain
The small city car is built on the MEB platform which underpins small cars, with front-wheel-drive. The car gets a 57kWh battery pack with an electric motor, which generates 231hp and 290Nm of torque, with a 0-100kmph time of 6.9 seconds, and a top speed of 180kmph. The ID.Life supports DC fast charging which gives it a 163km range in just 10 minutes. So by the time your coffee gets ready, the ID.Life will be ready for a city spin.
ID.Life Design and Features
Volkswagen has designed the ID.Life as a city car crossover, which gives it a healthy ground clearance. The car has a wheelbase of 2,650mm, which is reasonable considering it’s a small city car. The Concept features a retro-modern design with straight lines and geometrical LED headlamps and taillamps. The car replaces side mirrors with cameras, as in most modern electric concepts, and even gets a camera for the rearview mirror feed which is displayed on a 9” screen. The ID.Life Concept also gets a retractable projection screen with a gaming console!
