Technology explained: Traction Control System

Most of the cars these days are equipped with TCS or Traction Control system. But have you wondered what it actually does? Let’s find out. To start, TCS avoids slipping of wheels or prevents loss of traction whenever the throttle input, torque, and power are mismatched to the road conditions, like a rainy day. A traction control computer is responsible to detect if one or more wheels are spinning faster than the others, the ABS control unit makes sure the brake friction is applied to the spinning wheels and maintains the car’s stability. TCS is not so useful in mud or snow.
