Honda Cars India is getting ready to release its first small SUV in the Indian market after a number of years. Early next month, the new SUV, which was previously hinted with a sleek design, is expected to make its premiere in India. In addition to competing with other small SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Honda also wants to take on its Korean competitors, the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Later this year, the SUV—predicted to be called Elevate—is expected to make its formal debut.
Details about the interior of the Honda Elevate SUV have not yet been revealed, but recent spy shots have shown a large digital display that will likely serve as the central touchscreen for the infotainment system. It is also expected that the driver display will be digital as well. As for the engine, A 1.5-liter gasoline engine, presumably the same four-cylinder unit seen in the most recent Honda City, would most likely power the Elevate SUV. This engine produces nearly 120 bhp in the city, whereas the upcoming SUV is anticipated to produce closer to 110 bhp.
Honda is anticipated to keep supplying hybrid engine options in its inventory, as seen by the recently released City e:HEV model. The Elevate SUV's higher trim levels could also include this technology. To further compete against Korean SUVs and other hybrid-powered models in the compact SUV segment, such as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Honda may also add Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features, which are already available in its flagship City sedan.
