Fifth-generation Subaru WRX revealed with all-wheel-drive
Subaru WRX comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine
Subaru has revealed its all-new 2022 WRX for the International markets. Popular for being a rally car, the Subaru WRX comes with an all-wheel-drive system and performance updates with the new generation model.
Subaru WRX Performance
Coming straight to the powertrain, the 2022 Subaru WRX replaces the 2.0-liter unit with a new 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which now makes 3hp more at 271hp and a similar 349Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed CVT or Subaru Performance transmission. The CVT transmission features an eight-speed manual mode, with quicker downshifts, controlled by steering-mounted paddle shifters.
Subaru WRX Design
In terms of design, the fifth-generation Subaru WRX carries a similar design language, albeit with modern elements. The car gets Subaru’s signature hexagonal grille with new LED headlamps and a wide hood scoop at the front, 17”/18” alloy wheels with wheel arch cladding on the side, and LED taillamps which glow like ‘Volcanic Magma’. The new WRX is built on Subaru Global Platform which brings a stiffer chassis, increased torsional rigidity, and lower center of gravity.
Subaru WRX Interior features
On the inside, the 2022 WRX features an 11.6” vertical touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity as standard. Top variants get Recardo seats with 8-way power adjustment with a Black Ultrasuede upholstery with red stitching. A 11-speaker Harmon-Kardon system and Subaru’s Eyesight Driver Assist Technology are standard.
