Volkswagen iD.5 concept car teased ahead of debut

Volkswagen has revealed teaser images of its upcoming electric car iD.5 on social media. The iD.5 is based on the Volkswagen iD.4, but gets a coupe-like roofline and a rear spoiler, making it more premium-looking than the iD.4. Apart from the new design, the car comes fully connected, with Over The Air (OTA) updates. VW claims a range of 540km for the regular iD.5 and 497km for the iD.5 GTX trim. The GTX trim will be available with dual motors with all-wheel drive, for sportier performance.

Jeep Gladiator gets a new Gecko green paint and factory-fitted Gorilla glass windshield

Just like the Wrangler, the Gladiator now comes with a Gecko green color option. The gecko green option is available in Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon trims of the Wrangler and in Overland and Mojave trims of the Gladiator. Additionally, both the Wrangler and the Gladiator come with factory fitted Gorilla glass windshield, which was earlier optional. Jeep says that the gorilla glass panel uses a chemical strengthening process for the glass, sandwiched in between the regular glass panels which are 52% thicker. This makes the windshield three times more resistant to cracks, chips, and fractures, Jeep adds.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV confirmed for 2022

Mitsubishi has confirmed the new Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle based on the new-generation car. The PHEV model is expected to use a bigger battery, thus giving it more electric range combined with the gas range. The new Outlander PHEV will look similar to the IC engine variant, with an upright face with split LED headlamps, a massive chrome and piano black grille, and slim LED taillights. Unlike the regular Outlander, the PHEV will be offered with 3-row of seating in 6 or 7 seat configurations.

Toyota Innova Crysta to get a price hike of 2% starting August

Toyota Kirloskar Motors will give the Innova Crysta MPV a price hike of 2%, effective from August 1,2021. The hike comes due to the rise in input costs for the brand, which means that other Toyota models could soon get a hike in prices. The Innova Crysta starts at Rs. 16.53 lakh for the base GX variant and goes all the way up to Rs. 24.60 lakh for the top-end ZX variant. The MPV is available with a choice of a 2.7-liter petrol engine or a 2.4-liter diesel engine. The Crysta is available in 7 and 8 seater configurations.

2022 Land Rover Defender Trophy edition unveiled

Land Rover has unveiled the new Trophy edition of the Defender SUV. The car also includes with it an entry to Land Rover’s U.S Trophy off-road competition. The Land Rover Defender Trophy edition will be limited to just 220 units. The Trophy edition is based on the Defender 110 P400 X Dynamic SE with off-road specific updates like all-terrain tyres, air springs, electronically controlled rear differential, a deployable ladder, and a roof rack. Visually, it gets more black trims on the outside. The SUV is powered by the same 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine making 396hp and 550Nm of peak torque.

Mercedes Benz EQE teased ahead of global debut

Mercedes Benz has teased its new electric sedan EQE on social media platforms. The EQE will be revealed at the IAA MOBILITY 2021. As the name suggests, the EQE will be the E-class of Mercedes’ electric range, sitting below the Mercedes EQS in the brand’s line-up. The teaser images reveal the car’s interior, which is largely similar to the EQS, and the rear lights which are connected together. The overall shape of the car looks similar to the EQS, with slightly different elements. The EQE will retain the displays and the ambient lighting from the EQS.

GWM’s Tank to debut with Land Cruiser Prado competitor

Great Wall Motors is planning to launch a new Land Cruiser Prado rival SUV called Tank 600 under the Tank sub-brand. The car will feature GWM’s new 3.0-liter-turbo V6 engine making 349bhp and 500Nm of torque. The car is a traditional body-on-frame SUV and measures 5,050mm in length, 1,934mm in width, and 1,905mm in height. The car has similar proportions as the Haval H9 but will have various design changes to differentiate the two. The spy shots reveal the car’s front end, with a huge chrome grille and LED headlamps.

Hyundai Alcazar crosses 12,000 bookings since launch

Hyundai launched its Creta-based 3-row SUV Alcazar in India on 18 June. Since its launch, Hyundai has bagged over 12,000 bookings for the Alcazar. Out of these, 4000 bookings were made just 10 days after the launch of the Alcazar, while 1000 bookings were made in the last 5 days. The Alcazar is basically a 3-row, 6/7 seater version of the Creta. It is available with a choice of a 1.5-liter diesel engine or a 2.0-liter petrol engine. The Alcazar competes with the Tata Safari and MG Hector in the Indian market.

2022 Hyundai Custo MPV interiors revealed

Hyundai has revealed the interiors of the 2022 Custo MPV. The interiors combine a layered design with modern features like the vertically placed touchscreen unit at the center which sticks out of the dashboard. The Custo gets many elements inside inspired by the Tucson SUV, like the gear shifter, and a digital driver display. The unique gear-shifter design has allowed Hyundai to carve a big storage space between the two front seats. The images revealed show a 2+2+3 seating layout, though the Custo might be available with a 2+3+3 layout as well.

Tata Tiago NRG facelift- what new to expect

Tata Tiago NRG has been teased on social media and will launch soon. The car will get new paint jobs, with body cladding on the sides, a plastic element on the tailgate, and a black roof. The biggest change in the Tiago NRG will be the front, which is carried over from the Tiago facelift. The headlamps are sharper than before, with a more aggressive-looking grille. On the inside, the car will come with a 7” touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a rear camera, and a keyless engine start/stop system.

MG One exterior images and color details out before official debut

MG motors recently teased its new ‘One’ mid-size SUV for the international markets which will showcase MG’s new design direction. Just two days before its global debut, the car’s exterior has been revealed with two signature colors- Bubble orange and Wilderness green. The car features a wide grille, with LED headlamps placed above. The overall proportions appear to be sleek, with a sloping roofline and rising window line, and subtle creases. The rear gets slim taillamps with round LED elements. The MG One comes with a panoramic sunroof too.
