Umling La pass is the world’s highest motorable road
Umling La pass in Ladakh, connecting Demchok with the rest of Ladakh is now the highest motorable road in the world. Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has completed the construction of the road, at an altitude of 19,300 feet. The 52km long road connects Leh to some villages, including villages near the Indo-China border. Ladakh also has a very famous high mountain pass, the Khardung La, situated at an altitude of 17,600 feet and connects the Nubra valley to Leh.
