Motorsport History on this day in 1927

The Nürburgring motor-racing circuit held its first race meeting in 1927, Germany. The first motorcycle race was won by German Toni Ulmen on an English 350-cc velocette bike. Germany’s Rudolf Caracciola was the winner of first car racing event-5000cc class in a Mercedes Compressor. The track consisted of 174 bends. It was also open to public in the evenings and weekends as a one-way toll road. Recently, Porsche Cayenne achieved the record of fastest production SUV around Nürburgring in 7:38:925 minutes.
