Japanese carmaker Mitsubishi has been fined $29.65 million in emission scandals, by German prosecutors. According to reports, Mitsubishi used a device that produced falsified pollutant readings in its 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter diesel engines. While the official emission figures claimed to be Euro-5 and Euro-6 compliant, testing declared that the figures did not meet the regulations. The investigation showed that the violations happened ‘unknowingly’ and Mitsubishi has already paid the fine amount.
