MG Astor engine options revealed before official debut
The Astor will come with petrol engines only
MG Motors has revealed the engine details of its upcoming mid-size Astor SUV. The Astor will be available with a choice of two petrol engines. The base Super and Smart variants will come with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine making 118hp and 150Nm of torque mated to a manual or a CVT gearbox. The top-spec Sharp and Savvy variants will come with a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine making 161bhp and 230Nm of torque mated to an automatic transmission.
MG Motors will reveal the Astor on September 15. The car is expected to launch in the next month, with prices expected to start at around Rs.9 lakh. The Astor will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun. MG is expected to load the Astor with features to the gills, with first in segment features like in-car AI assistant, Level 2 autonomous driving technology, and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
